It’s bizarre how difficult I find it to throw fruit and veg away. We have cupboards full but I still need to “rescue” any last produce that might be about to go to waste and use it for some thing!
The family have sort of got used to it and stoically munch their way through some strange meals and odd combinations of food. Not to mention the various jams, jellies and pickles that get produced at the end of every summer. But even they began to worry when my tendency to preserve kicked in at planting time.
Do you get offended if things aren’t gender neutral? It never really struck me until I worked with someone who was determined everything had to be neutral – she was to be referred to as the chairperson not even the chairwoman. She wasn’t gay or trans – obviously just felt very strongly about it.

In common with many gardeners I am not overly fond of these grey bushy-tailed “rats”. Cute as they may look in photos, I am fed up of finding oak trees sprouting in the herb bed and less happy still about them in the lawn.
The debate WQithout seems to have opened up again about the rights and wrongs of bra wearing. I have to be honest that until today it wasn’t really in my consciousness that there was such a serious debate.
